Mayer Joins Scholastic Board

Peter Mayer, the former CEO of Penguin and current president of Overlook Press, has been elected to Scholastic's board of directors. He fills the vacancy created by John Burton, who resigned due to health reasons. Scholastic chairman Richard Robinson said that Mayer's ability to extend properties such as Peter Rabbit into worldwide markets will be "invaluable as Scholastic continues to grow and capitalize on new opportunities in the millennium."
