Results Up at BAM

Books-A-Million reported a relatively strong quarter for the first period ended May 1, 1999, with revenues up 14.3% to $85.1 million. Net earnings increased from $10,000 to $310,000. Company president Clyde Anderson said he was especially pleased with the 4.9% improvement in comparable-store sales in the quarter.
