The coming of fall signals change: cooler weather, back-to-school schedules and, of course, new picture books and works of fiction and nonfiction from children's book publishers. Companies continue to put forth new formats and editions to extend the life of tried-and-true titles; numerous celebrities are trying their hands at penning children's picture books; and motion pictures are spinning off tie-ins and novelizations at a brisk pace. There are also many remarkable debuts from authors and illustrators with fresh voices and styles.The anniversaries of a number of now-classic titles indicates progress of a different kind.
