Kensington in Deal With Court TV

-- Publishers Weekly, 8/30/1999

Kensington Publishing has teamed up with Court TV to develop a series of true crime books based on the cable channel's Crime Stories program. The books will be released under Kensington's Pinnacle Books imprint, but will also be identified as "Crime Stories from Court TV."

The agreement calls for one new book to be released every quarter, with the first book set for publication in summer 2000. Three to four different stories covered by the series will be included in each book, which will be released in mass market format. At present, six books have been signed for the series; the titles will be promoted on the Crime Stories shows.

In other news from Kensington, the company has signed a management services agreement with BET Publications (Black Entertainment Television) to continue distribution and all general publishing activities for BET's Arabesque line for another two years. Kensington sold Arabesque to BET last year for $11 million (News, June 28, 1998).
