New Linux Book Imprint
Paul Hilts -- 2/7/00

No Starch Press, the San Francisco-based computer publisher, is teaming with Specialized Systems Consultants Inc., publisher of Linux Journal, to create a new imprint, Linux Journal Press. The new press will offer books on topics relating to the Linux operating system for all levels of expertise, with 12 titles planned in the first year.

The first title from LJP will be the second edition of Samba: Integrating UNIX and Windows by John D. Blair, due out in the third quarter of this year. SSC published the first edition at $29.95 in late 1998.

"Linux is fun," declared No Starch publisher William Pollock. "The Linux community brings such amazing dedication to their operating system that it feels like the early days of computing."

Phil Hughes, publisher of Linux Journal, noted that SSC has been publishing Linux information since 1994 and has earned the respect due a trusted source. "We see this partnership with No Starch and its quality products as a way to open a forum for the Linux community to discuss its most important issues in a reliable setting."
