Menaker Jumps to HarperCollins

Daniel Menaker, senior literary editor at Random House for the past six years, will join HarperCollins Publishers October 29 as executive editor of the HarperCollins imprint. Before joining Random, Menaker had been with the New Yorker for 26 years, where he was senior editor.

Menaker was the editor of the surprise bestseller Primary Colors by Anonymous (later revealed as Joe Klein), and is also the editor of Sailing Alone Around the Room by U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins. Other authors he has worked with include Elizabeth Strout, Ted Conover, Julie Salamon, Matthew Klam and Vassily Aksyonov. Menaker will report to Susan Weinberg, senior v-p and editorial director of HarperCollins, Perennial and Quill.
