Now, 'Regrettable' Home Decor

The author of Crown's surprise hit Regrettable Food, which somehow survived a September 11 pub date to sell upward of 40,000 copies to date, has now turned his attention to some of the abominations of interior design during the 1970s. He is James Lileks, a Minneapolis-based journalist and collector of past cultural errors, whose new book, Interior Desecrations: Horrors of the Taste-Free 70s, hopes to do for home decor what Regrettable did for late 1950s 1960s home cuisine. His acquiring editor is again Crown's Doug Pepper, who bought world English rights from Lileks's home-state agent, Jonathan Lazear. For fans of Lileks, who has a much-visited Web site at lileks.com, he hopes to publish next spring.
