This year's Whitbread Children's Award, an annual British award that carries a prize of 3,500 pounds, was announced on January 23. Top honors went to Coram Boy by Jamila Gavin (Mammoth), a novel set in 18th century England, which FSG will publish this October. The shortlist for the award consisted of the following titles: Heaven Eyes by David Almond (Hodder), Arthur. The Seeing Stone by Kevin Crossley-Holland (Orion) and-Troy by Adele Geras (Scholastic).
