LB Takes Rankin (and His Rebus)

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 1/14/2002

Highly unconventional Edinburgh police inspector John Rebus has starred in a series of gritty police procedurals by Scottish author Ian Rankin that have sold strongly around the world. Now Rankin has been signed for three new books, all starring Rebus, by senior editor Reagan Arthur at Little, Brown. She paid a major sum to agent Dominick Abel for North American rights, including audio, first serial, electronic and book club, and plans to publish the first of the new titles, Resurrection Men, in March of next year. Rankin is currently on tour here for his latest, The Falls, from St. Martin's Press.
