All About Air Force One

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 1/21/2002

The presidential plane has starred in popular movies and TV shows and has become a kind of national icon. Its inside story, from the time it made its first flight in Roosevelt's era to today, will be told in a book by U.S. News & World Report White House correspondent Kenneth T. Walsh. Hyperion editor-in-chief Will Schwalbe and senior editor Mark Chait paid a six-figure advance for world rights to West Coast agent Jillian Manus at Manus & Associates for the book. The award-winning journalist will tell stories about the plane's role as a presidential refuge, and of the crises and conflicts that have taken place on board. Publication is aimed for Father's Day, 2003.
