Chapman Leaves ABC After 16 Years

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 1/21/2002

Caron Chapman, former executive director of the Association of Booksellers for Children, left that post in December. According to ABC v-p Kim Moppert (co-owner of Mr. McGregor's Garden in Ft. Wayne, Ind.), former ABC board member Anne Irish has been appointed interim executive director of the organization. A final decision about Chapman's successor will be made during ABC meetings at BEA in May.

Chapman is now working fulltime as a children's librarian at the Edina Community Library outside of Minneapolis, a position she held while at the ABC. "I carry with me the experience and insight of all the people I came in contact with over the years, as well as the love and appreciation of well-done children's books," Chapman said. "I still feel a connection with everyone, and I would welcome communication with people." She can be reached at 4412 Chowen Ave. S., #303, Minneapolis, Minn. 55410.
