WWII Sea Story Big S&S Buy

The tale of a group of seven British sailors who spent more than two months on an open boat in the North Atlantic after their merchant ship was sunk in 1940 by the Germans, with only two surviving to stagger ashore in the Bahamas, will be told in a book just bought at auction by Alice Mayhew at Simon & Schuster. She paid a "significant six figures" to agent Stuart Krichevsky for All Brave Sailors: The Sinking of the Anglo Saxon by J. Revell Carr, former director of the Mystic Seaport Museum, where the boat the men sailed in was on show for many years. Finally, after the efforts of the families of some of the men who perished in the ordeal, the boat was taken to London's Imperial War Museum. Mayhew bought North American rights only; movie rights are represented by Matthew Snyder at CAA.
