RH Kids Group Starts Spanish-Language Imprint

by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 2/11/2002

With its newly acquired Golden Books properties in one hand and data on a burgeoning Hispanic market in the other, the Random House/Golden Books Young Readers Group has begun a Spanish language imprint for ages 2-8.

The new imprint, Random House Para Niños, will publish titles that feature characters from Disney, Sesame Street and the Berenstain Bears. A variety of book formats, ranging from mass market editions to board books, will be released under the imprint. Some books will be reissues, and others, including books featuring Mickey Mouse, will be new titles. The 2002 list will have more than 25 books, and the first titles under the imprint--four mass market paperbacks--were released last month. Random Young Readers editor-in-chief Mallory Loehr will oversee the imprint.
