Women: Still Behind?

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 3/18/2002

A new book just bought by Basic Books executive editor Jo Ann Miller suggests that, despite the gains of the women's movement in recent years, middle-class women with children are still worse off financially, just as they were a generation ago. It's Trapped: Mothers in the Aftermath of the Women's Revolution by Harvard Law School professor Elizabeth Warren, writing with her own daughter Amelia Warren Tyagi, who exemplifies the plight as a Wharton MBA who is now a stay-at-home mother. The Warrens' book is about the impact this economic imbalance has had on both American families and society at large. Miller bought North American rights from agent Susan Rabiner and will publish in fall 2003.
