Frazier Lands--at Random

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 4/8/2002

Charles Frazier, the author of the astonishingly successful Cold Mountain and whose next book was being publicly shopped around despite Grove/Atlantic's remarkable efforts with his earlier one, landed at Random House, where president Ann Godoff acquired and will edit his next. She made a hard/soft North American rights deal with Amanda Urban at ICM--also a new agent for the author, who was discovered by Leigh Feldman at Darhansoff & Verrill. The asking price was reportedly a multimillion-dollar one. The untitled novel will center on the true story of a white man who had been a Cherokee Indian chief and will be published in 2005.
