Novel First for Director

Hollywood writer-director Quentin Tarantino, whose screenplay for his cult movie Pulp Fiction was one of the all-time bestselling screenplays, is publishing his next creation first as a novel. It's called Kill Bill, and Talk Miramax editorial director Jonathan Burnham signed for world rights with the William Morris agency to publish it next spring, six months before Tarantino's movie version starring Uma Thurman appears—from Miramax, naturally. It's about a woman who is apparently murdered on her wedding day, but in fact has fallen into a coma from which she recovers five years later, when she sets out to kill everyone who tried to do her in. The author describes it as "not a script and not a novelization" but "something in the middle"; Burnham says it's "dark and brilliantly funny."
