First Novel from Pulitzer Playwright

Random president Ann Godoff has signed Suzan-Lori Parks, Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright of Topdog/Underdog, to a two-book deal that will include her first novel. She bought North American rights to Getting Mother's Body, set in rural Texas in the early 1960s, and will edit it herself for publication tentatively next summer. The deal was made with agent Jennifer Rudolph Walsh at William Morris. Parks, who has won numerous awards and whose latest play is up for a Tony, is also a screenwriter.
