Goldberger on Ground Zero Plans

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 6/3/2002

Random trade president and publisher Ann Godoff has signed veteran architecture critic Paul Goldberger, who writes regularly for the New Yorker, to do a book on the process by which "Ground Zero" in New York, where the World Trade Center towers once stood, will be redeveloped. She bought world rights in the untitled work from agent Amanda Urban at ICM and will edit it herself, for publication on the second anniversary of the attack, in September 2003. Goldberger has extensive sources among the city planners and architects involved, and will examine the many conflicting interests, including those of the bereaved families of attack victims, that will have to be resolved before any new structure is finally built on the spot.
