To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Dutton Children's Books has created the Ann Durell Fiction Contest, named for the former Dutton publisher. The grand prize is a book contract with a $7,000 advance and $1,000 cash, to be awarded to the best original unpublished novel for readers 8–14. One honorable mention will also be given, with a $500 cash prize.

Manuscript submissions must be postmarked by Aug. 31 and received by Sept. 15, and the results will be announced in December. Dutton editors will judge the contest.
