Southern and Sunbelt Superstore Openings

Borders Books and Music plans to open an 18,000-sq.-ft. store in Atlanta, Ga., in September. The store, located in Brookwood, north of downtown, at Peachtree Road and I-85, will stock more than 140,000 book, music, DVD and periodical titles and will be the company's 15th store in the state.
Barnes & Noble has signed a lease for a 26,000-sq.-ft. store in Las Cruces, N.Mex. Scheduled to open next May, the store will stock almost 200,000 book, music, DVD and magazine titles and will be located in the Mesilla Valley Mall at 700 S. Telshor Boulevard. Las Cruces is in the southern part of New Mexico, about 45 miles from El Paso, Tex.
