Sandra Brown Switches Houses

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 6/24/2002

A guaranteed bestseller in the romantic suspense field for more than a dozen years at Warner, Sandra Brown signed a huge three-book deal at Simon & Schuster, where she will be edited by editor-in-chief Michael Korda and senior editor Chuck Adams; Pocket Books will do her paperbacks. It was a North American rights deal, signed with the author's longtime agent Maria Carvainis, and while no one is talking figures, it seems certain to have gone into eight. The first book under the new deal will come out in fall of next year. Brown's last bestseller was Envy last year; in her 20-year writing career she has published 62 novels (all still in print), 49 of them bestsellers, and has been translated into more than 33 languages.
