Hyperion Hot on Ashanti

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 6/24/2002

The hot R&B singer/songwriter has sold her first book to Hyperion, to be published as soon as November, only six months after her debut album, Ashanti, became the fastest-selling debut disc ever. The deal was negotiated by editor-in-chief Will Schwalbe and Jennifer Lang with agent/manager Stephan Dweck. The book, to be called Foolish/Unfoolish: Reflections on Love, will be a collection of the singer's original poetry, coupled with meditations on love and relationships and the inspiration behind some of her favorite songs. Hyperion bought U.S. and Canada, book club, audio and first and second serial rights.
