Singapore Novel to Norton

A first novel by a young Singapore doctor, Vyvyan Loh, now practicing in the U.S., fetched a strong six-figure bid (with escalators) from Norton editor-in-chief Starling Lawrence, buying on behalf of Carol Houck Smith. It was a two-book deal for world rights in Breaking the Tongue, about the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in WWII, and another book, made with agent Brettne Bloom at Hill & Barlow.
