Auction Win for 'Dirty Girls'

St. Martin's won a hotly contested auction for a first novel about six Latina girlfriends acting up in Boston, The Dirty Girls' Social Club, written by New Mexico newspaperwoman Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, herself a Latina. Executive editor Elizabeth Beier triumphed with a half-million-dollar offer for North American and audio rights to agent Leslie Daniels at the Joy Harris agency. SMP plans to publish next spring-summer.
