After 11 ½ years David Kewley is stepping down as managing director of Scholastic U.K (see News). A leading figure in U.K. children's publishing and a former president of the Publishers Association, Kewley has overseen the rapid expansion of the company. Acquisitions have included integrating Andre Deutsch Children's Books on the publishing side and School Book Fairs and the Red House Book Clubs on the business side. Scholastic's publishing has spanned all markets ranging from Philip Pullman's prize-winning Northern Lights trilogy to the Horrible Histories, Horrible Science and Horrible Geography series, market leaders in nonfiction publishing.

"It has been a wonderful period of my life," Kewley said. "I want to pay tribute to all the Scholastic staff who have worked so hard to make the company what it is today and who have helped to deliver its goals of enabling children worldwide to realize their potential in life through literacy, entertainment and education."
