Slander Makes a Hit

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 7/15/2002

While author Ann Coulter is being "slandered" (more like petty name-calling) on talk shows during appearances for her new bestseller, Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right, sales are off to a very impressive start. The Crown book landed in the #1 spot last week and is still in the lead a week later. Sales are so brisk that the publisher has gone back to press six times, for 195,000 copies in print. The book was launched with the author's heated 12-minute interview with Katie Couric on The Today Show on June 25. Crown currently has three books on the hardcover charts—Slander and Execution on the nonfiction list and The Shelters of Stone on the fiction side.
