Clawing Its Way Up the List

Readers of The Perfect Storm know Linda Greenlaw as the captain of the sister ship to the ill-fated Andrea Gail (she was played in the movie by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio); she recounted this and other maritime adventures in 1999's The Hungry Ocean: A Swordboat Captain's Journey, which spent 11 weeks on PW's charts. Her latest book, The Lobster Chronicles: Life on a Very Small Island, was published by Hyperion on July 1 (copies in print: 165,000 after three printings); in its second week on our list it moves up to #7 from last week's 12th place. Publicity highlights for Greenlaw's tale of life—and fishing, of course—in a new locale (Isle au Haut, off the Maine coast) include TV appearances on Today, CNN's Business Unusual and Good Morning America. In addition, Bill Goldstein from the New York Times discussed Greenlaw's book on July 13 on NBC's Weekend Today in New York. On July 11, the author kicked off a multicity tour that will conclude on September 7 at the New London (Conn.) Maritime Festival. Also on the 11th, she taped an interview with Martha Stewart, to air on Martha Stewart Living Television, and cooked up with Martha a tasty repast of linguini with—what else?—lobster.
