Reichs Shares a Secret

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 7/22/2002

Kathy Reichs's latest criminal caper, Grave Secrets, was launched by Scribner on July 9 with what publicity director Pat Eiseman calls "a WOW press packet—a trifold that really drew lots of attention." A pub-day appearance on Today no doubt helped, too, in placing Secrets at #9 on this week's fiction chart. (The author's three previous bestsellers enjoyed a total of 20 weeks on our hardcover and paperback lists.) An eight-city reading tour included a stop in Reichs's home town of Charlotte, N.C., where—like her heroine, Temperance Brennan—she's a forensic anthropologist who's often called upon to testify at criminal trials. (Reichs also worked at Ground Zero following the September 11 attacks.) Still to come from the publicity mill is coverage on Court-TV's Catherine Crier Live and in People and Entertainment Weekly. Scribner reports approximately 200,000 copies in print.
