Riverhead Gets Rap Chief's Memoir

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 7/29/2002

The house's co-editorial director, Julie Grau, signed an autobiography by Marion ("Suge") Knight, the rap impresario who owns Death Row Records and spent five years in jail himself on assault charges. Grau bought world rights from Knight's agent, Mickey Freiberg at Acme Talent, and his lawyer, Arthur Barens. In the book, which Riverhead plans to publish in the latter part of next year, Knight will talk of his experiences with many of the leading rap stars of the day, his jail time and lessons he has learned along the way.
