The stars and stripes wave proudly on Celebration of America, featuring songs by top recording artists, including "This Land Is Your Land" performed by the Weavers, "Back in the U.S.A." by Linda Ronstadt and "Follow the Flag" by Randy Newman. Actor/entertainer John Lithgow has made a name in the children's book and music world over the past few years, with such titles as The Remarkable Farkle McBride (S&S, 2000). In that book, musical prodigy Farkle tries his hand at several instruments but finds that what he likes best is conducting all the sounds together. As an extension of the book's theme, Lithgow embarked on a "Farkle and Friends" concert tour, performing original songs and traditional favorites, and introducing kids to music. Now the recording Farkle and Friends captures some of the silliness, drama and good-quality music to be had at one of the live shows.
