Among the Bestsellers

The September 11 anniversary is less than a month away, and a slew of commemorative books are on the docket. One that has already landed on the bestseller charts is Among the Heroes: United Flight 93 and the Passengers and Crew Who Fought Back by Jere Longman, the New York Times reporter who covered the story for the newspaper. The author did a 10-city tour in August and will do a second wave of publicity in the week before September 11, including paying his respects at the crash site in Shanksville, Pa. He has already done about 25 national TV shows, with more in the works. HarperCollins noted that Longman interviewed more than 300 people for this book, which includes details about all the passengers and crew. Total copies in print after five trips to press: 130,000.
