Not to Be Myssed

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 8/26/2002

There's lots of activity in hardcover nonfiction, with about a half dozen titles—new and backlist—showing up among the top 20. The highest scorer in this group is Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential by Caroline Myss, which enjoyed an 11-week run on the PW charts earlier this year (the book was published in January). At that time, Myss did a 20-city tour, which included a one-on-one appearance on Oprah. Oprah is a powerful bookseller, even in reruns, and when the Myss program re-aired August 15, sales for the book were brisk enough to land it in the #3 spot this week. Harmony Books reports 285,000 copies in print after 10 trips to press; two of those reprints (for a total of 29,000 copies) were spurred by the Oprah rerun. The Three Rivers Press trade paperback will be published January 2003 and Myss is scheduled to do a nine-city tour.
