Burroughs Running Back

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 8/26/2002

Another surprise bestseller this season was Augusten Burroughs, whose Running with Scissors, his hilarious and unsettling account of his absurd and dysfunctional family of psychoanalysts and others, won extraordinary reviews. His St. Martin's Press editor, Jennifer Enderlin, was quick to sign him up for a further two books with agent Christopher Schelling at Ralph Vicinanza. It was a deal for world rights plus audio and ran into seven figures. First of the new books, called Dry, will be out next summer, along with a Picador paperback of Scissors.
