Brooks's Books Cook

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 9/9/2002

Terry Brooks's stats are the kind that most writers fantasize about. His first fantasy, The Sword of Shannara, celebrates 25 years in print, and his 20th novel, The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Morgawr, the final volume in his latest trilogy, hits our list this week in the #3 slot. After two trips to press, it has 160,000 copies in print; sales for his entire oeuvre are estimated to be more than 15 million worldwide. The author will be touring through October 25, visiting 16 U.S. and four Canadian cities. Morgawr, a Del Rey hardcover, has enjoyed excellent reviews including one in PW that pointed out that his books sell because "of their quality, not just because of his name on the cover."
