Out of the Ashes

by Judith Rosen -- Publishers Weekly, 9/23/2002

Georgetown Publications Inc., the new sales and marketing company formed by Canadian distributor Georgetown Terminal Warehouse Ltd. announced that it has signed its first U.S. publisher, Watson-Guptill Publications, which had been with General Publishing. "We are delighted to have Georgetown as our new Canadian distribution partner," said Harriet Pierce, v-p, marketing and associate publisher of Watson-Guptill. "We're particularly impressed with Georgetown's ability to structure an arrangement that works best for both our Canadian customers and our own publishing program."

According to Georgetown president and GTW director of finance administration, Dan Soucie, this is the first of several pending agreements. "We expect to have two or three more publishers signed by the end of August," he said. "In addition to Wilf Clarke, we've hired six former General Publishing staff." Georgetown has also added a toll-free number: (888) 595-3008.
