New House, Agent for 'Nannies'

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 10/7/2002

The authors of the year's biggest surprise bestseller, The Nanny Diaries, have landed a new publisher, Random House, and a new editor, Lee Boudreaux, after being taken there by a new agent—their third in less than two years—Suzanne Gluck at William Morris. It was reportedly a multimillion-dollar, two-book deal for Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Krauss that will embrace a Diaries sequel and a new book. The latter, which will come first, centers on a young woman who thinks she has landed an ideal employer in a company that seems to be strongly feminist, only to find disillusionment. The authors began with Christy Fletcher at Carlisle & Company, then had a 16-month relationship with Lucy Childs and Molly Friedrich at Aaron Priest before jumping last month to Gluck.
