The Possible Dream

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 10/14/2002

An author with a story equally triumphant, albeit in a vastly different direction, is Christopher Reeve, whose second book, Nothing Is Impossible, marks its second week on our nonfiction chart. (His first book, Still Me, spent six weeks on PW's list back in 1998.) On the book's September 25 pub date, this Superman celebrated his 50th birthday with such luminaries as Barbara Walters, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Robin Williams et al.; the gala event raised more than $2 million for the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. A week before, on September 18, ABC aired Christopher Reeve: Courageous Steps, a documentary that chronicles Reeve's attempts to walk again (and which was made by his son, Matthew). Random House notes that Reeve has done most of his interviews in studios, live, often accompanied by—and interviewed with—his wife, Dana. Print features have appeared in Time, People and USA Today. Copies in print: 191,000.
