Crown Gets Reviewer's Novel

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 2/3/2003

Darcy Cosper, who is a fiction reviewer (for Book Forum) and runs the reading series at the Housing Works Used Book Fair Café in New York City's SoHo, might seem to be tempting fate by writing a novel. She has so dared, however, and agent Elizabeth Sheinkman at Elaine Markson has just sold it to Kristen Kiser at Crown for North American rights. It's called Lies I Never Told You, and is described as a contemporary Jane Austen–style look at the institution of marriage as seen by the head of a ghost-writing agency, skeptical about that institution, who suddenly finds herself knee-deep in weddings. Sheinkman is already fielding offers from the U.K. and will be selling foreign rights herself at BEA. Shari Smiley at CAA is handling movie rights.
