One Nation—Indivisible?

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 2/3/2003

Marking its third week on our nonfiction list is one of those tomes whose title tells all: The Savage Nation: Saving America from the Liberal Assault on Our Borders, Language and Culture is the work of noted right-wing radio commentator Michael Savage, whose eponymous show is carried on more than 300 stations coast to coast. At last report, he was third in the radio talk show ratings, with more than six million listeners. This is the second book from WND Books (the first was last fall's Center of the Storm by Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris), a partnership imprint between Thomas Nelson and WorldNetDaily.com focusing on topical titles. Following a 100,000-copy first printing for Savage Nation (pub date: January 7), WND notes that additional trips to press have brought that figure to just over 300,000. The book has landed on several national charts, including taking the top spot on yesterday 's (February 2) New York Times list. In addition to his three stints to date on Hannity & Colmes, Savage has also guested on Fox & Friends, MSNBC's Nachman Show and CNN's Talkback Live.
