Prodigal Daughter

by Steven Zeitchik -- Publishers Weekly, 2/10/2003

Workman Publishing, a family-run firm perhaps best known for books on childbearing, has brought on Katie Workman, daughter of Peter, as associate publisher.

Workman the younger has been an editor at Clarkson Potter for more than a decade, and Peter Workman said it's "a natural time" to create the position and sign her up. Katie will oversee the promotions department and also work with editorial with an eye toward sustaining franchise brands like Brain Quest and the What to Expect When You're Expecting series.

Though there's been no speculation on his retirement, Peter Workman is clearly looking ahead; he described the move with phrases like "the pleasure of continuity." He also said, "There's really not much more to add. It's just a perfect thing for us."
