Short Takes

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 2/24/2003

Publisher George Braziller, himself an old war protester, will bring out a collection of poems read by 11 leading poets on behalf of the Northshire Bookstore in Manchester, Vt., recently, stressing their right to protest against war in Iraq after a White House poetry reading was canceled. They are Julia Alvarez, David Budbill, Grace Paley, Donald Hall, Greg Delanty, Jody Gladding, Jamaica Kincaid, Galway Kinnell, William O'Daley, Jay Parini and Ruth Stone, and the book will appear in trade paperback in June, its proceeds to go to the ABA Foundation for Free Expression.
