Reflections of Goldie

by John F. Baker -- Publishers Weekly, 3/3/2003

Award-winning movie comedienne and producer Goldie Hawn, a star for 35 years, is writing a memoir for Putnam that will offer a "personal, spiritual reflection" on her life. It's to be called A Lotus Grows in the Mud: Footprints of a Spiritual Life and will be, she says, a chance to share her perspectives on her early life in New York, her TV stardom in the late 1960s in Laugh-In, then the long Hollywood years, her marriages, her children (including actress Kate Hudson) and her 20-year relationship with star Kurt Russell. It will not be a gossipy Hollywood tale so much as a story of spiritual growth. World rights were bought by Putnam's David Highfill, who prevailed after Hawn had been taken by her agent, Alan Nevins at L.A.'s The Firm, to visit a number of leading publishers; he was understood to have paid in the low seven figures and will publish in 2004, with a Berkley paperback a year later.
