That's Elvis Cole, Robert Crais's popular L.A. private eye, who returns after two successful stand-alone thrillers published in the last two years, Hostage and Demolition Angel. The ninth Elvis Cole vehicle, The Last Detective, has enjoyed excellent reviews (including a starred PW), and the author is on a 10-city tour that will wind up with Crais making an appearance at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival in April. Doubleday reports 110,000 copies in print after three trips to press.
