by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 4/14/2003

Three books published by the Holtzbrinck Group earned three of the five Pulitzer Prizes awarded in the book category last week.

Rick Atkinson won the prize for history for the first volume in his trilogy about the World War II liberation of Europe, An Army at Dawn, a Holt title. The fiction award was won by Farrar, Straus & Giroux author Jeffrey Eugenides for Middlesex, and the poetry prize was given to Paul Muldoon, whose Moy Sand and Gravel was also published by FSG.

Robert Caro won the biography prize for Master of the Senate, which is published by Knopf and which took last year's NBA. Samantha Power, who won the nonfiction award for A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide (Basic Books), earlier won an NBCC prize in the same category.
