Bookstore Sales Fell 4.3%

Bookstore sales fell 4.3% in February, to $1.07 billion, according to preliminary estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. The entire retail market did substantially better than bookstores, with sales rising 3.5% in February. For the first two months of the year, bookstore sales inched up 0.5%, to $3.32 billion, while sales for all of retail increased 4.6%.
