by Staff -- Publishers Weekly, 4/21/2003

After more than a year of negotiations, Random House has become the latest publisher to sign an agreement with Nielsen BookScan to use BookScan's retail data service. Random executive v-p and COO of North America Don Weisberg, who led the discussions, said the BookScan data will complement Random's own information to help the company publish more effectively.
