A Successful Tee-off

by Daisy Maryles -- Publishers Weekly, 5/26/2003

John Feinstein's latest sports bestseller, Open: Inside the Ropes at Bethpage Black, tells the story of the 2002 U.S. Open, the first to be held on a public course and with the biggest ever net profit, at $13 million. The controversy surrounding LPGA superstar Annika Sorenstam's insistence on competing with the men at a PGA event in Texas has given Feinstein high visibility—he's appeared on many radio and TV talk shows. He's also been promoting his Little, Brown book with phone interviews with sports radio stations nationwide. Total copies in print after two trips to press: 190,000.
