Graf Steps Down; Ortenberg, Balliet Move Up at Avalon

Avalon Publishing Group announced that Herman Graf, cofounder and publisher of Carroll & Graf Publishers and a v-p of the Avalon Publishing Group, is stepping down from those positions on August 1 to become an editor-at-large.
Avalon also announced two executive promotions. Neil Ortenberg, formerly Avalon senior v-p, has been named executive v-p responsible for Avalon's New York publishing imprints. Will Balliet, formerly Avalon's senior director of editorial, has been named a v-p of the Avalon Publishing Group and will succeed Graf as publisher of Carroll & Graf.
Graf has had a long and distinguished publishing career. He began as sales representative at Doubleday and has worked over the years at McGraw-Hill, Grove Press, Arco and Schocken. He cofounded Carroll & Graf in 1982.
