On the Move

by Judith Rosen -- Publishers Weekly, 7/14/2003

After 12 years as a distributor, Bookworld Companies in Sarasota, Fla., decided that it was time to settle in and buy a place of its own. The offices will now be located just down the street from where they were before: 1941 Whitfield Park, Sarasota, Fla. 34243. The distribution center remains in LaVergne, Tenn. At the same time, Bookworld has done some streamlining of its businesses. The year-old music division, which is projected to account for 30% of Bookworld's overall sales in 2003, was recently incorporated. John Plough was named president of Bookworld Music Inc., and Ronald Smith, who is president of parent company, Bookworld Companies, has been named CEO. Bookworld Companies now consists of Bookworld Music Inc., Bookworld Trade Inc., which handles sales to booksellers and libraries, and Bookworld Christian Inc., which sells to the Christian market.
