B&T Signs First Distribution Client

Baker & Taylor's new distribution services division, Distribution Solutions Group, has signed up its first customer: Barefoot Books, the 10-year-old children's book publisher with offices in Cambridge, Mass., and Bath, England. DSG is supplying warehousing and sales services to Barefoot, effective immediately.
DSG was created earlier this year to provide consignment distribution services to the publishing and entertainment industry and is headed by v-p John Phillips.
In a prepared statement, Barefoot Books president Nancy Traversy said that besides being able to handle the company's fulfillment needs in the trade and educational markets, DSG stood out because it could handle Barefoot's direct business with consumers and sales through nontraditional channels. "Our new relationship with DSG enables Barefoot Books to worry less about distribution and devote more energy to product development and creative marketing initiatives," she added.
